Dr. Rizwana Popatia is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College and Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatrics Pulmonology. Her medical expertise includes pediatric asthma, Interstitial lung disease, Primary ciliary dyskinesia and pediatric bronchoscopy. Dr. Popatia received her medical degree (M.D.) from M.P. Shah Medical College, India, with top honors and 17 gold medals and was awarded a “Best Resident Physician Award” during her residency tenure in Jamnagar, India. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the State University of New York – Downstate Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, and a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She also served as a chief fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Popatia is active in medical education and research, and global health. Her current research interests include outcome based research in asthma, Asthma Education (PACE Program) and Cardiopulmonary exercise training. She has multiple publications in eminent journals and have reviewed articles for eminent journals like American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, JAMA, Journal of Neonatology and Perinatology and BMC Medical Genetics. She is currently the editorial board member of Journal of Pediatrics and Child Care as well as International Journal of Pediatric Health Care and Advancements.

He is the President of Ain Shams Medical Student Research Association “AMSRA” and a member of a several prestigious associations and societies. He also pursues a career in trauma and emergency care and in the area of injury research. He is pursuing a career in breast cancer surgery and research. He was the Chair for 2 Institutes about Responsible Conduct of research in collaboration with the National Academy of Science, USA. His Biography was included in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He is an investigator on different projects with different universities in the United States.

Dr. Nabil Shallik, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and associate head of anesthesia service in Rumilah Hospital, part of Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar. He also works as a senior consultant of Anesthesia, Intensive care unit and Perioperative Medicine in Hamad General Hospital. He published more than 30 articles in local and international peer reviewed medical journals including perioperative, pain and airway publications. He is also a reviewer and editorial board member for number of international peer reviewed medical journals. He is official reviewer of Hamad Medical Research Center (MRC) team. As he was the main author of many book chapters “The Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery for Obstructive Sleep Apnea: a Practical Guide” and “Airway Management in ICU settings” in Intensive Care book. He is a lead researcher in airway management in the Middle East and his research interest mainly focuses on perioperative care and on new tools for airway assessment and management. Dr. Nabil is a pioneer in anesthesia education and a dedicated clinical teacher as he has more than 20 year of anesthesia practice and 15 year of dedicated anesthesia teaching. Dr. Nabil is a core faculty member of Anesthesia Residency program, the first ACGME-I accredited program in the Middle East. He was awarded the Award of Excellence in medical education in Qatar and best teaching material from International Sleep Surgery Society (ISSS) . As a course director for all advanced airway workshops in Qatar Robotic and Simulation Center, he keeps testing, inventing and tailoring basic and advanced educational modules related to airway skills to fit different health care providers. Dr. Nabil is an active contributor to anesthesia literature at international level (Airway Management Academy (AMA) and European Airway Management Society (EAMS), He received an innovation fund from Academic Health System in HMC for Development of three projects (Novel Ultrasound Visible Double Cuff (UVDC) for ETT (Endotracheal Tube), new video-scope (Shalliscope) and Ventilation with View Mask). As a manager he streamlined the clinical service at ENT department, was major workforce for transformation of the Hamad Corporation into academic health system, implementation of Electronic medical record and JCI accreditation of the corporation.

Biography :

Dr Gustav Frans Strandvik graduated from medical school at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town South Africa, before relocating to the United Kingdom for 16 years. He gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of London (MRCP), and then completed his Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He gained further intensive care experience at University College Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital, and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive care Medicine (FFICM). He also holds the Diploma of Intensive Care Medicine (DICM) of the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Intensive Care Medicine (UK). Dr Gustav is currently working as a Senior Consultant in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit of Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar. He has published a number of peer –reviewed journal articles in the fields of trauma and critical care medicine, and contributed to book chapters.

Dr. Marc J. Shapiro M.D. is Professor of Surgery & Anesthesiology at SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine and past Chief of the Division of General Surgery, Trauma, Critical Care & Burns at Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Shapiro attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, completed a surgical residency program at Henry Ford Hospital and received postgraduate training in Critical Care Medicine at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh. Dr. Shapiro is board certified in the areas of Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Shapiro is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. He continuously is listed in Whose who in America and in Best Docs, He is a NYPD Police Surgeon and a member of the White House Medical Unit. He, has published the Oxford Textbook of Critical Care Medicine which is the most widely read critical care text in the world, has authored over 100 articles and book chapters. He currently is Assistant Chief Medical Quality Officer for the University Medical Center.
